It’s been over 4 weeks that I watched my diet closely, making sure I take in mostly healthier foods. It is also becoming more like a habit and more and more effortless. *gives myself a pat on the back* =))
The decision to pay closer attention to my health led me to read up more about the impact of certain foods on our health. Some research results are quite alarming and it is really adamant that we select the stuff we eat more stringently. (Sodium and sugar intake’s toil on the body is quite scary)…
While there is no need to micro-manage, I believe little steps of change in our diet definitely will go a long way.
This past month had been slightly different from previous dieting regimes (unsuccessful ones) that I tried. Looking more into proper eating habits rather than focusing on the aesthetic goal made things more enjoyable, and in fact, makes me feel healthier and happier – with results too!
On top of that, dear and I decided to resume our weekly exercise goal. We went to the gym yesterday. It was the 2nd time we were there. The first was quite a pleasant experience. What’s more, the place is near our workplace.
I didn’t want to stress myself out too much because of the persistent flu that I had just recovered from. Even so, bicycling and some light weights made me feel great. The exercise helped with the insomnia which I suffered for the past week. Dear did his treadmill, determined to take his IPPT soon, while he is STILL in good physical condition, since he passed his previous round’s test with excellent results. (I wonder when he will actually go for the test… hmmm……… next June??? Lol.. )
Exercising with dear is on itself great too. It’s like we have ANOTHER common thing to do and spend time together. I mean, in all things, it is always good to have a partner to help and encourage each other achieve our goals. It is so much more meaningful and less of a chore that I have my best friend, soul mate and companion working with me to a better lifestyle!
The only problem I had with the place is that it is so so male dominated! I’m like the one handful of ladies there, sticking out like a sore thumb…. Hahaha.
And everyone looks way too serious. It’s like I’m the only one giggling and laughing all the way with dear, playing with all the different odd looking equipment etc. Why so serious??
Anyway, I’m definitely going back next week. Sweating it out helps with stress relief by the way…
Ponders
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. -- Isaiah 40:28-31
