Ponders

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. -- Isaiah 40:28-31

Daddy's birthday!

We're going to celebrate my dad's birthday with a family steamboat dinner. Dear and I bought dad a gift. Plus a birthday card... (It felt a little awkward writing him a card at this age, I feel like a kid all over again... =P) I hope he likes them both =). Mum and dad went out early in the morning to get the ingredients for the dinner. Dear and I contributed by getting more fungi to top up the fungi my mum already bought.. haha~ I love fungi =D

I am at dear's place using his lappy to blog. I prepared 'Taiwanese Oyster Mee Sua' for our lunch a couple of hours earlier, minus the oyster ('cos I couldn't find them at the supermarket), plus chicken, prawn, and crab meat. The looks/presentation were ok. Dear took some pictures of the product. For my lovely darling, I even bought AND CUT my most hated coriander leaves!! The 'pungeant' smell was released into the air the moment my knife sliced into the funny looking leafy spice... =S Erm.. it was just the taste.. It was a little too sweet, a little too starchy and a little fishy (or crabby?). Haha... FAIL~!

Hope we don't get a tummyache from this meal. But well, I did learn alot from this meal... Like never just throw spoonfuls of corn starch directly into the pot. You will jus get clumps and clumps of disgusting... erm.. clumps. You are supposed to dissolve/stir the starch in water before pouring them in. Also, try not to improvise... just stick to the recipe... =C

Last night's tiny celebration was a real success. Aunt Pauline and uncle bought loads and loads of beef and huge scallops to top up the ingredients for steamboat. As expected, the meat-lovers in the family cleared all five large trays of beef shabu shabu.. haha.. The dinner was really enjoyable, and daddy loves his present and card. *beams* Most importantly, I really love the rowdiness of a big cosy family gathering. It is really heart-warming. Glad I suggested it. Everyone helped to prepare for the dinner (even debbie helped, by separating the mountain of fungi into 2 mountains of fungi =3), then everyone helped to make a huge mess of the dining area, and finally everyone helped to clean the place up.. haha... Really hope that we would be able to this again some time soon. It is seldom and not easy to be able to gather everyone, especially on a saturday evening.. Heee... I'm still so happy from the dinner last night~~~ (^o^)
