Ponders

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. -- Isaiah 40:28-31

Comfort Food

Came across the term ‘Comfort Food’ on Facebook. Comfort food is food that brings nostalgia and of course comfort to the person eating it.

Seeing the term made me want to pen down my own comfort foods:

- Plain porridge with 1/2 salted duck’s egg (must be eaten in mummy’s company)…
Reminds me of the porridge lunches that I had when I was a kid. Obviously, porridge with salted duck’s egg was my favourite. I can’t help but mention the worst – Soggy fish and soggy meat floss, soaked in super hot porridge, that I had to gulp down in hurry for afternoon school…… o.o

- Mummy’s chicken noodle soup
It’s just so good, heart-warming and soul-calming I don’t mind having it every weekend, which was just about the only time my mum had the time to cook it and we had the time to sit together and eat as a family. Bestest if eaten on a cold rainy afternoon (which, alas, seldom happen in Singapore….. o.-)

- McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets with (BBQ or Sweet & Sour Sauce)
Reminiscences of happy family meal times at the happy fast food restaurant. I didn’t use to eat very much at all (eg. 1 har kau completes my buffet meal). Nuggets were the only attraction for me at Uncle M’s then.

Can’t recall much now ‘cos my brain is almost asleep. Let me sleep on it and come back with more! =)

And wouldn’t it be so nice everyone of us take some time off our busy schedule to think and reminiscent on our comfort foods and why they play such a subtle role in our lives, yet at the same time we yearn them so much when we are so physically and mentally down? Most amazingly, they pick us back up on our feet delicately, yet so quickly we feel we can conquer the world! =)
